Mission Statement

We are Christ Church International:

Worshipping God

The simplest definition of worship is “attributing worth to God.” The English word comes from the Anglo-Saxon root, worth-ship. Another way to say it, is “admiring God.” Man’s chief purpose is to glorify God. This is no truer of the individual than it is of the church as a whole. Worship is a stairway on which there is movement in two directions: God comes to man, and man goes to God. Gregory Cox in his article, Worship and the Church, states, “It is vitally important that our people understand that worship is our response to the character of God.”

Equipping One Another

Christ Church International is becoming an equipping ministry. An Equipping ministry prepares people to understand their gifts and live out their calling in every area of their lives—church, community, family, marketplace, and mission. We are becoming a church that will help you identify your giftedness, maximize your potential, and utilize your gift in the building and edifying of the church. We are countering the consumer mindset that has crept into the church and moving toward a servant lifestyle.

Embracing Our Community

The image of the body of Christ also speaks of the interconnectedness between all the persons who make up the church. Christian faith is not to be defined merely in terms of individual relationship to the Lord. There is not such thing as an isolated, solitary Christian life. There is, in this understanding of the body, mutuality; each believer encourages and builds up others. Members of the body are to bear one another’s burden. The body is to be characterized by genuine fellowship. This does not mean mere social interrelatedness, but an intimate feeling for and understanding of one another.

Serving With Excellence

We believe that the five-fold ministry described in Ephesians 4 has been called to prepare God’s people. The emphasis on “preparing” requires a complement. What are God’s people being prepared to do if it is not to serve and build up the body? The preparation spoken of in Ephesians is in order to perform their individual and collective work of service. Christians must break the monopoly the clergy has on the task of ministry. Please, Please, pretty please! The body of Christ does not have two classes of members—clergy and laity—or two sets of expectations. Everyone has the same task of building up the body, even though responsibilities vary.

This is not to say that some are not more appropriate to pastor, but even with those tasks pastors should include and train church members.

Ministry is the only profession that retains nothing to itself, gives away all its knowledge free, and invites those served to do the same work.

Reaching Our World

The phrase ‘urgent evangelism’ expresses two things: (1) first of all it expresses Scriptures teaching on the fate of those who do not know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and (2) secondly it expresses the necessity of believers to share the gospel of Christ within the network in which God has placed them. An urgent matter takes precedence over other concerns, and Jesus clarified His priority on earth when he said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19:10) Every Christian is responsible to live a life that glorifies God and to be a true ambassador for Him. The great commission directs the church to go into the entire world and make disciples of all nations. The Scriptures do not direct us to convert the world, but to evangelize it. The church is under obligation to give the whole world and opportunity to hear the gospel and to accept Christ.
